VP Robredo visits Kian's wake, Caloocan crime scene

On Sunday Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo also visited Kian Loy delos Santos who was killed in anti-drug operations last week despite pleading for his life. Robredo extended her condolences to de los Santos’ parents, Zaldy and Lorenzana she also visited the place where Kian was shot dead including the crime scene CCTV footage suggests he was killed by police officers. De los Santos was one of several drug suspects whom Camanava Police gunned down in its own version of “One-time, big-time operations” against criminality, following those staged by their counterparts in Bulacan and Manila in the same week.

Robredo, arrived at Kian’s wake around 7 am to offer sympathies straight from Naga City Camarines Sur. She issued the statement after visiting the wake of Kian Loyd and also offered free legal assistance, in coordination with the Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) lawyer  Jose Manuel “Chel Diokno, who is willing to serve as Delos Santos family’s legal counsel.

She refused to grant interviews however Robredo issued the statement after visiting the wake of Kian Loyd . “This is saddening. Killings have a face: Kian. We can’t help but wonder how many Kians have passed away? How many Kians will still die? Given the situation, we must express our condemnation of what happened.”  I have grieved over death of a loved one, and it is really so tough.  Parang pinapatay ka din. But I can’t imagine it’s hard to lose a husband, pero sigurado ako mas mahirap mawalan ng anak kasi ito iniluwal mo, ikaw iyong nagasikaso. Tapos nakakaawa kasi pareho iyong tatay saka iyong nanay. It is apparent that they were blaming themselves. “Robredo said in her weekly radio show “Biserbisyong Leni” .

De los Santos’ wake was held in Barangay Libis Baesa, Barangay 160, and Caloocan where he was shot during an “Oplan Galugad” with a cal-.45 pistol and two sachets of suspected shabu from the victim. Zaldy, Kian’s father claimed that his son was blindfolded by the police and was being forced to identify drug pushers in there are. Policemen involved in the operation claimed that Kian’s resisted arrest and shot them with a pistol as he was escaping.  However, Zaldy have obtained a CCTV footage that’s shows his son was brought by policemen to the place where he was killed.

Witnesses have also surfaced to claim Kian was brutally arrested and blindfolded and claiming that the teenager had begged for his life, while Caloocan Police claim to have a witness who will prove Kian was involved in the illegal drug trade.

Aside from Robredo, Sen. Risa Hontiveros and Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan also visited Kian’s funeral.
